FAQ about the Haunted House

How long have you been doing the display?

I have been doing this display here at my own home for 28 going on 29 years in 2010.  However I started this hobby as a boy of 8 years old after visiting the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland.

How long does it take you to set - up the display?

The set - up phase usually starts about labour day but as this is my hobby I work on projects all year round with March being the really get going for the year month.

Where do you get everything?

Almost all of the props and sets I build myself such as the coach, pirate ship, tomb stones and mausoleums. I have also developed some contacts in the film industry over the years and not so often score some good stuff from them. I am also constantly on the prowl at thrift stores, garage sales and craigslist. Close to and just after Halloween I also troll the dept. stores, drug stores, craft stores etc.  Sometimes it takes 2 - 3 years or more to collect and build everthing for a given display.

Where do you store everything?

Every walkway inside the display such as the glow gallery, the E.T. room, the party room and the tunnel are used the store the huge number of props displayed both inside and out. Eg. the glow gallery is used as the garage for the coach and the tunnel to store everything from the grave yard.
